Oh, it is here. I just haven't posted yet. I'm hoping by Thursday I will have some loverly photos to share of some devious things I've been up to.
In the meantime, I have some Illustrating the Edible! For our first assignment, we had to create a piece illustrating a recipe for the blog turning book They Draw and Cook but, it also had to emphasize memories. So, here it is!

The Man in the Black Suit
Concepts Final(s), but it is no where near completed for me. I have more tricks up my sleeves yet and some major re-finishing to do on them in terms of value and proportion. These are illustrations based off the opera my friend Bill wrote.
Loretta's Morning Song
Loretta's Morning Song
The Devil's Scene.
I have two other images but photoshop is not playing nicely. The colors seem a little off here.

The Tarot WIP
Oh Fantasy Art, how I love thee. This is some of my work in progress for my tarot card of death (dundundun) which really isn't a bad card. It just symbolizes change.
I have to take a major editing eye in this piece right now. The waves are too close in value and are getting lost in each other. The thorns are in competition with the waves and death could be a lot cooler, but for all purposes, it turned out fairly well as an experimentation with collage and digital. So, yay for me.
There will be a ton more to show as finals approach. Stay tuned!

Blogging About Homework
So taking some of Kristin's advice; I really don't like doing my homework at the desk, so I am going to update my blog. As you can see I changed the colors and they look happier.
WIPS
For Allan's class we are doing a "mini thesis" where we developed a concept and are illustrating it in the form a certain amount of images to serve a purpose.
When I have a few of them completed, I will make light of what is happening.

It started off like the image above, but have since inverted it. It is majorly in the works right now.
In collage, we were doing clay and this is a piece that came out of it. Right now I am in the process of building the set with a bit more detail so that the t.v. will glow.

Some Collage Work
I love Alain's class. I like that way of working. Here's a snippet of some of the work I've been doing in there.
This was my first collage for the class. I need to do some major adjustments, but as a first try I am really pleased with how this turned out. the ghosts need to be more interesting though.
This is a much better scan of the Canada piece.
Bird in a cage. He's quite happy about it though.
Still kind of in the cute phase.
Alain said I was too cute with my magazine drawings so I drew this instead. We got a good laugh out of it.
I have a ton more things to do.

Words on Wheels - Finished!
I finished this two weeks ago, but forgot to post the final. It has a very fairy tale-esque charm to it. Probably my favorite piece this year,

Words on Wheels
This is what happens when you listen to Hazards of Love way too many times. Still a work in process.
For the past six or so years, the MICA juniors have teamed up with elementary/middle schools in Baltimore City to illustrate poems that these children write. The project is called Words on Wheels and these posters are displayed on the Light Rails and buses running throughout Baltimore. Last year I had the opportunity to participate as Jumore (Sophmore/Junior, cause I'm a transfer student and nothing is simple when you transfer) and my poster was one of the ones selected and displayed. (Though I never saw them.)
This year I get to do it again and my poem is about perseverance through tough times and and situations.
Here are some screen shots of my work in progress:

This was my original final, but then.....I took the green and red layer off and this happened:
I still have some serious tweaking to do, but we are moving forward swimmingly.
*Note* These are just screen shots of what I have been doing, so the picture quality is not that great.

Collage
For Collage class, an abstract landscape of Canada and a cut paper experimentation. I really really like hot air balloons. I will update with a better quality photograph. These kind of suck.
